30 april 2025 1500 cr investment in telnagana CBG plants 20 new cbg plants across Telangana Telangana continues to strengthen its position as a major destination for Compressed Biogas (CBG) investments. In a significant development, the state has attracted fresh CBG projects investments worth approximately ₹1,500 Crores through a strategic partnership involving South Africa-based BioVest Holdings, Hyderabad-based Spantech Engineers, and EcoMax Energy. Under the partnership, the companies plan to establish 20 Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants across various districts of Telangana during the initial phase. The initiative aims to support renewable energy production, agricultural waste utilization, rural employment generation, and sustainable fuel development.

Technology Partnership and Local Manufacturing

The collaboration includes a technology transfer arrangement between BioVest Holdings and Spantech Engineers. BioVest will provide its advanced Herba modular anaerobic digestion technology, while Spantech will manufacture the systems locally in Hyderabad. The Herba technology is designed to achieve significantly higher biomethane yields compared to conventional biogas systems. Spantech Engineers will also supply its BioGenie biogas purification systems for the proposed CBG projects, helping improve gas quality and operational efficiency.

EcoMax Energy to Lead Project Development

EcoMax Energy has been appointed as the deployment partner for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The company plans to develop CBG projects across multiple districts and has expressed a long-term vision of establishing a CBG plant in every district. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in the presence of Telangana Government officials and industry stakeholders.

Boost for Telangana’s Renewable Energy Sector

The proposed investment is expected to create significant employment opportunities while supporting Telangana’s transition towards clean energy. The projects will utilize agricultural residues, organic waste, and other biomass feedstocks to produce Compressed Biogas, reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels. According to EcoMax Energy, efforts are also underway to secure funding from international green funds and development finance institutions to support project implementation. The announcement highlights the growing interest in Telangana’s CBG sector and demonstrates the state’s potential to become a leading hub for Bio-CNG and renewable energy projects under India’s SATAT Scheme initiative.
